Another Monday, sigh how did we here again ey?
Whilst I completely agree that Mondays are probably the worst day of the week and you are probably questioning whether you really need to go to work today … believe me, the feeling is mutual.
Alas! Have no fear Friday is near, so pop the kettle on, get the digestives out as today we are celebrating and learning How to observe National Random Acts of Kindness Day.
Whether you are familiar with the national holiday or not, it should be something you implement in your life. Being good and doing good things has a far greater meaning than how many likes on social you will get; a good deed should make you feel enlightened that you are making someone's day, who has some sort of struggle a little better.
Unfortunately, without getting too dark, life can be too short sometimes and we forget to appreciate and enjoy the time we have in the present.
Many people battle with their own demons and struggles but you could be that very person who makes their day just a little bit better - or even saves their life! There are many forms of struggling both mental and physical, some that we don’t see and others we will see staring right at us. This could be someone close to you in your circle or situations you may walk past on a daily basis.
The point I want to get across is if you can be kind and help someone, no matter how small or grand the gesture may seem to you, the act of kindness and the feeling of fulfilment is priceless.
Not only do the acts of kindness bring joy to the receiver, but they spread positive reactions to the giver, too.
Carry out a random act of kindness, with no expectation of reward, safe in the knowledge that one day someone might do the same for you.” – Princess Diana
HOW TO OBSERVE #RandomActsOfKindnessDay
Smiles are effortless, beautiful and sometimes one thing that is needed to brighten up a gloomy day, don’t underestimate the power of a smile.
Whilst I agree, compliments can be awkward to receive. Giving them has such a beautiful and rewarding feeling as there is nothing sweeter then acknowledging an attribute or achievement in someone.
3. Donate to a preferred charity/ volunteer
There are so many charities and various places to volunteer and if you really want to get stuck in and help out hands on this is a great way to start.
Show those close to you how much you appreciate them for being a part of your life and how they have implemented a positive change. Don’t be shy pick up that phone!
I think this one is just a given, but we do forget the simplicities of a please and thank you, the power and respect earned from these words are unbelievable.
“Remember there’s no such thing as a small act of kindness. Every act creates a ripple with no logical end.” (Scott Adams)
So, here is a challenge for you in the spirit of National Random Acts of Kindness, make someone smile, be someone’s sunshine and most importantly know that you have wholeheartedly made a positive impact in someone’s life and not only today but every day.
Turn someone’s frown upside down!
